The Philosophy

To create a comfortable living space, the complex interrelation of light, measurement and materials is critically important.
The Japanese origin of architecture is ‘So’, meaning natural. Embellishment therefore has no meaning from a Japanese point of view: it is detailed workmanship and design that create an artful and long-lasting impression.
Grounded in Japanese modernism and minimalism, Powder Loft pays homage to modernity and style, enveloping its residents in a cocoon of tranquility.
The Architect
Makoto Nakayama
nA Nakayama Architects is a Sapporo-based architectural practice led by the multi-award-winning and acclaimed Japanese architect Makoto Nakayama.
The practice has an extensive body of work and an established presence in Hokkaido and other parts of Japan, notably Zaborin and Higo, which received accolades including the office building category award at the prestigious World Architecture Festival in 2015.
